Galatoire’s Dinner Raises $10,000 for The Brees Dream Foundation
Donation to be utilized for the Operation Kids’ Edible Schoolyard Project
NEW ORLEANS—October 1, 2008 –Galatoire’s Restaurant raised a total of $10,000 on Monday evening, Sept. 29, 2008, when the restaurant welcomed international food and wine personality Joe Bastianich on his first visit to the Big Easy to host a charitable dinner benefiting The Brees Dream Foundation. The dinner, sponsored by Neat Wines, featured the wines of Bastianich paired with the award-winning cuisine of Galatoire’s executive chef Brian Landry.
A reception kicked off the dinner at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction that included an autographed Drew Brees Saints jersey and an autographed George Rodrigue print featuring Drew Brees. Dishes served included roasted wild boar chops with cauliflower puree and pork jus, and boneless frog legs with lemon caper beurre blanc and fresh caper berries.
The Brees Dream Foundation, established by Drew Brees and his wife Brittany, will utilize the donation for the Operation Kids’ Edible Schoolyard Project, a hands-on growing and cooking experience for public school students created to revive and promote the rich gardening and culinary heritages of New Orleans.
